A Conversation with The Met Museum Staff


"A Conversation with a Museum Staff" is held on October 1, 2010 from 5:00-6:30PM. The free event is for teens 13-18 years old and allows them to speak to museum staff, artists and curators to get a behind the scenes look. Enter through the 81st street entrance into the Carson Hall to join the event. Register by emailing teenprograms@metmuseum.org. If you have any questions, ask Lilian Chen, a Teen Advisor at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Art Contest from H&M!

"The world is filled with talented artists. Recognizing that talent is
becoming increasingly difficult. That is why H&M now introduces ‘Your
Art Here’ – an all styles visual arts contest, with a New York City
theme – giving aspiring artists the opportunity to gain valuable
exposure by exhibiting the winning artist’s work in the window of the
H&M store located at 42nd Street and 5th Avenue in New York City.

The winner will also receive:
- $5,000 stipend to support an up-and-coming art career
- $500 H&M gift card
- Roundtrip airfare and accommodations in New York City while
installing the piece in the store window.
- Up to $15,000 installation budget.

Visitors to the website get to vote on their artwork of choice and the
top ten vote getting artworks will compete in a final round where they
are reviewed by a panel of judges from H&M and art world
personalities, including:

- Thierry Guetta, AKA Mr. Brainwash
- Nancy Barton, Professor of Art and Art Education at Steinhart NYU
- Daniel V, the blogger behind JazJaz.net
- Adele Treschow, designer and contemporary artist

All entries must be received by October 15th, 2010.

The Animation Project. Free to Students!

The Animation Project teaches students to create stop-motion animated films.

Free for high school students.

Meets on Tuesday afternoons from October-January.

If you are interested in participating you must attend a meeting on Tuesday September 28 4-6:30pm.

Teen Advisory Board at The Noguchi Museum


[TAB] The Noguchi Museum's Teen Advisory Board is a program where teens advise the museum on teen-related matters, plan two events for teens, and serve as ambassadors for the museum at events.

Free Acting Classes at Stella Adler Studio of Acting!


Stella Adler offers free acting classes for NYC high school students who qualify as low-income.

Classes are held Tuesday and Thursdays 4:30-6:30pm

Spend the fall learning at The Museum of Modern Art! Taught by leading art specialists, MoMA Courses offer adults the rare opportunity to study modern and contemporary art during and after public hours in the Museum's galleries and classrooms.

Can't make it to MoMA? This fall MoMA will offer two courses online—take a class anytime and anywhere.

Incredible ISCP Program for Class 1&2!!



This incredible program is looking for 20 young visual artists to join our fall Into the Studios program at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP). This free program is open to high school juniors and seniors from around the city. The application and flyer are attached.

Participants attend the arts workshop in our project gallery at ISCP on Mondays and Wednesdays, October 4-December 15, 4:30-6:30pm. Together we visit professional artists in their studios, learn about contemporary art and create portfolio level work. All materials are provided.

This program is a partnership between ISCP, St. Nicks Alliance and the Joan Mitchell Foundation.
